The Raw Vs Commercial Debate

This site is here to help spread the word about natural, raw diets for dogs (and cats). These diets are based on raw meaty bones and are commonly referred to as BARF, raw diets, or natural diets. BARF stands for "Biologically Appropriate Raw Food" or "Bones and Raw Food".

I don't believe in commercial pet food, it has the guts cooked out of it, when our pets have really evolved to eat RAW food ONLY. Also, you don't know whats in it: preservatives, by products, cheap grain fillers with no nutritional value, remains of 4D stock. 4D stands for Dead, dying, diseased and disabled. Anything that's a by product of human food manufacturing and classed as not fit for human consumption could be put into pet food.

Pet Food does not exist to make pets healthy! It exists only to make a profit!

Does that sound like something you want to feed your beloved dog or cat and expect them to be healthy? I think not. More shortly. Please check back soon.

Easy Reading: "Raw Dog Food"

If anyone is looking for a great book to get you started with switching your pet to a raw diet, you must check out "Raw Dog Food: Making It Work For You and Your Dog" by Carina Beth MacDonald.

This is a very easy book to read and understand with some good wit and not to much technical stuff. Highly recommended for a good introduction to raw food diets.

Get it here on Fishpond.com.au Raw Dog Food: Making It Work for You and Your Dog

I just found your site on blogrush. I started feeding my dog a raw diet about a month ago, and I cannot believe the difference it has made in his health. Thanks for the recommendation on the book.

Thanks for the book recommendation. I have most of the other books on your list, but not this one. I'm totally into the raw food diet, and I'm always looking for more info about it. I appreciate your posts explaining exactly how to do it, for instance pulping the veggies. Very well written. Clear & concise. I'll keep comin' back.

I have read it and it is a good book. Though I keep changing my dogs' diet from Prey Model raw to BARF to Dehydrated. With some kibble mixed in. :)
